Overview

Meanders' Annotator for Microsoft Office enables you to write directly in Microsoft Office (97/2000/XP/2003/2007) documents with its intuitive ink and handwriting support. You can review, comment on documents, draw and annotate tables, charts, diagrams, etc inside Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint all with your handwritten ink. You can also write and sign handwritten messages in any language inside Microsoft Outlook# when using Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor. All documents will be saved in their respective native Office file format and can be shared immediately without any compatibility problem.

Note  The Annotator can be installed to a PC running any Windows OS (Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP/Vista, including Windows XP Tablet PC Edition) that has supported version of Microsoft Office (97/2000/XP/2003/2007) installed. Please refer to the respective Microsoft Office documentation for the optimum Windows OS required.

  • WARNING The Annotator is not tested thoroughly on Windows 95 but should work.
  • As at v1.62, support for Outlook 2007 is available in a separate upgrade here!

Before you install

  • To install the Annotator, you must be using one of supported Microsoft Office products (97/2000/XP/2003).
  • It is recommended that the latest respective Office Service Pack is installed.
  • Close all Office programs before installing.

To install this download

  1. You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
  2. Download the zip file for your Office version.
  3. Ensure that you have Windows Installer installed. If not, you can find and download the latest version from Microsoft.
          Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows 95, 98, and Me (Microsoft Link)
          Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 (Microsoft Link)
  4. Ensure that Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 run-time library (MSVBVM60.DLL) is present on your machine. If not, you can find and download VBRUN60.exe (Microsoft Link) to install it.
  5. Unzip the downloaded file and double-click on Annotator.msi on your hard disk drive to start the setup program.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Instructions for use

Once you have installed the Annotator successfully, you will see a new toolbar available in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and in Outlook when using Word as your e-mail editor. For the completer user guide, the online manual is available here.

To remove this download

  1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the list of currently installed programs, select Meanders Annotator for Microsoft Office, and then click Remove. If a dialog box appears, follow the instructions to remove the program.
  4. Click Yes or OK to confirm that you want to remove the program.
  5. Click OK when the removal is completed.
