FAQ: Meanders' Annotator for Microsoft Office Table of Contents Q1: Error message "Module ....dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel." is displayed during installation. Installation quitted subsequently. (Applies To: v1.0 ~ v1.2) Q3: Is there any difference for ink support of Annotator between PowerPoint 97 and later? (Applies To: v1.1 ~ v1.2) Q4: I am using a PC with dual-screen setup. The Annotator seems not starting an ink stroke at the correct cursor position. (Applies To: v1.0 ~ v1.2)
Q1: Error message "Module ...*.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel." is displayed during installation. Installation quitted subsequently. A: This error is due to missing MSVBVM60.dll on your system. We have intentionally omitted the inclusion of this dependency file in the installation package in order to reduce the size. To resolve this problem, run VBRUN60.EXE to install the latest Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 run-time library (MSVBVM60.DLL) on your machine. VBRUN60.EXE may be downloaded from Microsoft site here.
Q2: I have selected "Everyone" during installation when being prompted with "Install Meanders' Annotator for Microsoft Office for yourself, or for anyone who uses this computer". Installation is successful and I can use the software with the user account from which I have run the setup. However, when I switched to another user, the toolbar is not available from Word and Excel. There will be an error message displayed when starting PowerPoint as well. A: This is by design. The setup package is intended to install the software only for the current user or "Just me". If you would like to access the software from other user accounts on NT based machines, please get at least v1.2 and re-run setup for each additional user. It is advised not to overwrite other users' installation so that future uninstallation of one user will not affect other users' installation.
Q3: Is there any difference for ink support of Annotator between PowerPoint 97 and later? A: The answer is YES. We have tried our best to minimize the difference of user experience between versions of Microsoft PowerPoint. However, due to some unavoidable limitations, inking is only available when PowerPoint view is set to ZoomToFit mode in PowerPoint 97. The software will automatically switch to this mode if not currently selected. And any drawn ink that starts or ends out of the slide space is discarded automatically. Besides these subtle difference that is transparent to the user most of time (as a normal user should rarely want to ink outside the slide space), the rest of user experience is exactly the same to the best of our efforts.
Q4: I am using a PC with dual-screen or multi-screen setup. The Annotator seems not starting an ink stroke at the correct cursor position. A: This is a confirmed limitation in release v1.2 of the Annotator. In order to work with your dual monitor or multiple monitor setup, please download the patch MultiMonPatch.zip. After downloading, unzip and run MultiMonPatch.msi, and then follow the instructions on the screen. |
